So this isn’t typically the kind of thing I’d post but it stopped me when I came across it because of the composition and the light. I spent the beginning of the week photographing a project we just finished, working with a photographer we’d never used and it was thoroughly fascinating. I love styling shoots and analysing which angles to shoot from to best represent our work as a firm. You’d be forgiven for thinking I’d lost it based on the image above, but actually, this shot for me creates an important emotion. Intrigue - not to mention the natural light is absolutely lovely. I’m a very visual person and I see A LOT of interiors, so being able to create intrigue to further draw me in means you’re doing something right - even if it turn out that I don’t necessarily like everything about the rest of the work. This image hints at what this apartment could be and that’s really all that intrigue is. It gives you a glimpse of the potential.

A dash of colour to brighten your day! Better late than never I say :) this comes from Kelly Wearstler, the queen of pattern clash herself. I use the term “clash” in a good way. While I don’t always identify with her work I do admire what she has created. She is brave with her choices especially her use of colour and pattern. Bravo I say! we should all be a little more bold every now and then.

So this might be a little OTT and eclectic but at least it’s not boring! I’m craving something a little different. Colour, old vs new, collected pieces, the obscure and unusual. Today will be a hunting day!

I tooootallly want an Armoire. I have zero storage in my house and this would be a great solution - cheaper than having something built anyway. Now if only I could fit it through the front door……

I’ve seen this image before but always from a different angle. It’s a great & creative use of old vintage gym mats. I have to say I’m rather liking the work that this creative duo Ashe & Leandro produce. They are sophisticated when necessary but still young and fun, which is refreshing!

Although this bedroom is grey and actually quite a cloudy grey, the monotone-ness of it (does that word even exist??) makes it calming and tranquil and not at all depressing. It’s almost hotel like. I could definitely curl up there.

So a bit of an iconic image for you today. Well - let’s say trend setting rather than iconic because I’m sure this was the image that single handedly made everyone want a black bathroom, muggins here included. Jenna Lyons was the creator - you know, the woman who also single handedly brought J. Crew back into the spotlight? Yeah that Jenna Lyons. The house in general has good bones but the choice of black? Ugh, I love it.

Uhhhh, I think I may have died and gone to interiors heaven……in Barcelona. Heaven in Barcelona. Ok enough. But seriously?! When I come across spaces like this I’m reminded why I love my job. I also get a serious craving for adventure and the feeling of possibility - like “I can do that!” also a massive craving to do exactly that. You following me? It’s hard to explain, but I love nothing more then trawling the net for run down, tired properties (all over the world!) and dreaming about all the things I could do to them. This place gets me because of its enormous proportions, elegant details, amazing windows and mix of contemporary furnishings. I’m also slightly in love with the floor. Like a LOT in love.

Loving this light & airy dining room mixed with vintage leather and classic pieces, such as the Tulip table (my fav!). Notice how your eye is drawn from the table arrangement through the rooms to wall display at the back. It creates a nice focal point throughout the space.

So every year AP hold a “Small Cool Homes” competition where folks can send in pictures of their home all in a bid to win the contest. I love this! I love trawling through the entries and would even consider entering myself if my place were ready (sadly & probably thankfully it’s not - not by a mile). This year marks the 10th annual competition and as always there are lots of interesting entries. My favourite by far is this little beauty called Erin’s Well Considered Home. She has combined a mix of styles that work together seamlessly. Slightly industrial, slightly vintage, definitely collected and monochromatic at the core (but not in a harsh sharp way) Erin’s home is a reflection of her and that’s the best part! You can really get a feel for the competitors. I find it fascinating - looking at a strangers home and being able to form a mental impression of who these people are, how they live, what they like and even what they might do as a profession. I’ve always said that I believe our homes are an extension of ourselves. If there were such a thing as a PHD in this I swear I would do it in a heartbeat!

Interior Designer raised in the Caribbean and transplanted in London. These are images I collect which I love. It might only be a part of an image, a single object or the composition, but each has something that I am drawn to.
